Project Information

Because I work at Home Depot and own a woodshop, I get asked to help out alot when we do the children's workshops and the women's Do-it-herself workshops. I was asked a while ago to come up with a prototype for a picnic basket the women were going to do. I made my original out of white oak and then added a simple ribbon made from lacewood. I designed it so the handle, when folded over, would rest in the notched side pieces. I built a fuming tent, bought some strong ammonia hydrochloride and fumed it. For the women's workshop, I simplified the design by making the handles more straigtforward and eliminating the arched side pieces, opting for straight sides instead. The end result is I stood in my shop all day on my day off and milled 280 seperate pieces. Ouch!

Nice Job, didn't Home Depot pay you to do the work? I would certainly ask for some compensation for a day of my time.
