Because I work at Home Depot and own a woodshop, I get asked to help out alot when we do the children’s workshops and the women’s Do-it-herself workshops. I was asked a while ago to come up with a prototype for a picnic basket the women were going to do. I made my original out of white oak and then added a simple ribbon made from lacewood. I designed it so the handle, when folded over, would rest in the notched side pieces. I built a fuming tent, bought some strong ammonia hydrochloride and fumed it. For the women’s workshop, I simplified the design by making the handles more straigtforward and eliminating the arched side pieces, opting for straight sides instead. The end result is I stood in my shop all day on my day off and milled 280 seperate pieces. Ouch!

That’s an awe inspiring work and art! The ribbon detail is tremendous! Perfectly done!

Nice Job, didn’t Home Depot pay you to do the work? I would certainly ask for some compensation for a day of my time.

Beautiful and well made basket! Like the design and the ribbon creates a nice touch. A great gift idea!
