The client contacted me and wanted an amp platform for his stereo amp. He asked if I could match or come close to matching the wood from his speakers which are Teak. Not a big supply of Teak from my usual wood source but I found a nice piece. Zebrawood was a secondary choice. We were concerned that the stripes in the Teak would be too much if I made the sides and legs from Teak so I suggested Wenge for the legs and it worked nicely.
I put a slight curved taper to the legs for a bit of detail. Sides are M & T’d to the legs.
Base platform is simply edge grain Maple.
I finished this with 3 coats of Kunos Livos Natural Oil Sealer.
Overall I’m happy with the project but there were some issues with possible racking of the Maple board but the client was happy with the final product.
Cheers….Don

Cool amp platform! Great design and use of the contrasting woods and it matches the speaker. Like it!
Have your say...
