Four bolt action pens

Finished these up this past weekend. Hardware is gun metal, wood is marble wood (at least that is what I had it labeled as).

Tried to turn a couple slim lines and I think my pen mandrel is bent! Pieces keep coming out a bit crooked…NOT a happy camper. Placed an order for a new rod (I use the adjustable mandrel), and got some bushings and other things as well.

These bolt action pens are really cool, now I just need to get the .50 and the civil war bullet pens!

They look great. I saw the bold action kits in a catalog. How were they to make, and does the action work well?

Thanks everyone!

@ grandpageorge: The action is really smooth. The spring in the front is large and provides excellent tension. Making them is a breeze. One tube, the front, a transmission, and then the back. I’d say they are even easier to make than slimlines! They have some nice heft to them as well. My customers are clamoring for more.

Have your say...
