More short box turkey calls. The first 5 are Eastern Red Cedar and the last two are Mineral Stained Poplar. I took one shot with different light so you could see some of the color and detail in that poplar regular lighting blew the colors out.

very nice, what did you use as a finish on the cedar?

Thanks. I use rattle can lacquer on these. I build a lot of them and it is fast. One thing I learned the hard way is no wipe on poly or spray on poly chances are it won’t dry. I think it is reacting to the resins in the wood. Whatever it is it is a tossup as to whether it is going to dry or not.

If I am doing a regular box, bowl or maybe a striker out of cedar I use Johnson’s Paste Wax up to 15 coats hand rubbed it a shine.
