This design was inspired by a magazine article. The wife fell in love with the design so I took on the task to see if I could replicate it. The base is made from laminated paduk and Poplar. The posts and stiles are paduk and the stile keys are purple heart. The original design had square edges on all surfaces but I prefer the softer touch of rounded edges. I sanded it all too 220 grit and applied 3 coats of Watco Danish Oil.

The wife is pleased so I guess I must’ve done OK. :)

I saw this article in my Wood magazine also. Nice job! A happy wife is a pleasure to have around!

Like your version more. Looks great and great mix of the wood. Great centerpiece to any table.
