I’m back with three turning projects. Back on the lathe having fun after taking the top of my thumb with the bench(table) saw.
1. Inside/out vase made with Australian Red Gum and a Cypress finial inside. Real fun doing these specially when doing the inside and tape breaks and 4 pieces are on the fly. Teaches you to be alert and have quick reflexes. But I still couldn’t beat the saw.
2. Bowl from Poplar
3. Bowl from West Australian Jarrah, sent to me as a freebie as the seller thought the rot went all the way through the blank. The blank was solid other than this piece of rot, he has since sent 3 more free bits.

Great lookin’ projects!!! I really like the Jarrah and the void in it. Great work!
I got the middle finger on my right hand about 3 years ago, but just took the skin, no major injury. It was really close. Now, I look at that spinning blade of death and take it a little more serious… heheh. (It just looks back at me and smiles)

Sorry about your injury. Your turnings are very nice. That’s a good price for Jarrah.

Very unique turnings, sorry about losing a digit. My brother lost three in a press accident when the top die fell out of the press in a wheel factory. So I can empathize with you. You are doing some great work, keep it up. Also keep your chin up. Bless you. mike

Thanks all for your comments. The skin graft has taken fine and am now a verified wood worker who has a lot more respect for my tools. I can still hear the bench saw saying “I got ya” and I do use a push stick now.
