To make this work I was inspired by AJswoodshop and I change it a little. I made it with pinewood.

Ther’s nothing wrong with making a basic design change but for the ease of use and safety, I would make a recess in the top block and use a bolt which will not go above its surface. Then just use a standard nut and a small washer to tighten them together.
