My wife is really getting good at painting and she asked me to build her two easels. One that is free standing and one that is a desktop model. So far I have only finished the desktop one. I saw one like this for sale on the Internet and I set out to see if I could make it. Made out of scrap poplar that I had in the shop. She really liked the finished product so now I am expecting a masterpiece from her painting!!!!!

Very nice! It’s amazed me how much they get for easels at an art store. I made a table top version as well, though not quite as well appointed as yours. I then went to a floor standing one that allowed the canvas to tilt toward me or away from me, giving me about the same reach across any position of a fair large canvas. Just found it more comfortable. For me, staying comfortable allows me to work longer and a better painting results.
