Jig weekend part 3! I am so pumped about making these jigs this weekend, they are so helpful!

Again the rails are maple, and just rest just little pieces of scraps.

I've had a nice dado blade set for over a year and this was the first time I've used it, I didnt have any 1/2" hardwood stock to use to make a box, all I had was 3/4" mahogany, I had to cut it twice because I failed to raise the blade far enough on the first pass. But man this little jig has me uber excited to make some boxes!

Not bad for the very first box joint I've ever made, the joints are pretty tight, once I get a chance to finish up the box I will post it. 3/4" stock is definitely overkill for this small of a box though, its 8" square.

And yes I know there is no insert on the table saw, i had to take the dado insert off to raise the blade enough for that 3/4" mahogany. Also made me realize i need a blade guard for this jig too.

Thank you for all of the great jig ideas LJ's!

Nice jig! I am in desperate need of one of these. How do you go about positioning the block so perfectly?

I was going for a 1/2" dado joint for the block (which i cut out of oak on the handy cross cut sled I made the day before!), I cut the dado on the fence before I glued and secured it to the sled, then just traced the block out on the sled and moved the fence over 1/2" and screwed it together. But it did take me 3 tries of the oak block before I got one that was the exact same size as my dado.
