Box Joint Jig

Jig weekend part 3! I am so pumped about making these jigs this weekend, they are so helpful!

Again the rails are maple, and just rest just little pieces of scraps.

I’ve had a nice dado blade set for over a year and this was the first time I’ve used it, I didnt have any 1/2” hardwood stock to use to make a box, all I had was 3/4” mahogany, I had to cut it twice because I failed to raise the blade far enough on the first pass. But man this little jig has me uber excited to make some boxes!

Not bad for the very first box joint I’ve ever made, the joints are pretty tight, once I get a chance to finish up the box I will post it. 3/4” stock is definitely overkill for this small of a box though, its 8” square.

And yes I know there is no insert on the table saw, i had to take the dado insert off to raise the blade enough for that 3/4” mahogany. Also made me realize i need a blade guard for this jig too.
