I was gathering some wood from the drying shed before the big storms get here and found a piece of oak that had this mallet hidden in it. All of the turning except rounding the top end and parting off was done with a 1” roughing gouge. Why? Just because. It was cutting good, I was riding the bevel and getting a good smooth finish so I kept going.
It is 11” long and the head is 2” wide. Finish is 6 coats of WOP sanded with 800 grit after 3 coats then sanded with 2000 grit after 3 more then coated with Johnson’s No Buff Floor Wax.
