Built the prototype for the wife to replace a flimsey craft store fold up metal one that I had tried to stiffen with cross braces. Finally gave up and made one for her. The sister was taken with the design along with a neighbor (yet to make hers) so hers was next. Not really cherry, but some aspen, birch plywood and pine. Standard panel door construction for the paneled sides and wings stained with General Finishes “Georgian Cherry.” Not my best finishing job, but mixture of materials was the challenge. Aspen edge-glued panels for the top to make a standard 36×60 top…a 3×5 cutting mat fits on the top…three 20” sections joined with 30” piano hinges that fold down. Wings fold up to make a 20” size for storage. Shelf cavities were so long that I made sliding trays to grab the stuff way in the back and slide it forward. Would like to make one out of real cherry or hickory, but maybe later.

Great looking, well made and functional project. You cannot find better looking craft table than that in any store.
