Second nightstand is complete and at the request of Pintodeluxe I added a few more pictures during construction. A couple of photos showing how I handcut the tenons for the base, the legs have two mortises each. The corner blocks add strength as well as a way to attach the cabinet to the base. The assembled base is shown prior to cleaning up and stain application. Edge jointing the cherry for the cabinet glue up. The cabinet is assembled and the hardware is attached on the door. Making the drawer and attaching the base to the cabinet is the next step. Another view with the open door. Thanks for looking.

Great, great work Rick. I really like the seperate treatment of the base, it seems to make that gorgeous cherry grain even more pronounced, showing its beauty and color. Where is that cherry from? It looks super!

Thanks Chuck and Rick. The cherry came from my supplier in Indiana, not far from the KY border. Its a small mill and they get their logs from the IN, KY, OH area so not sure exactly, but from this area

Beautiful nightstand! Like the great build and design especially the base which gave a nice contrast to the whole look.
