This is a gun cabinet my father built for a friend of his some forty years ago. The Story that Mr Charles told me was that one day while my father was visiting him. He said, I Wish I had one of these gun cabinets( While looking at a Sears catalog. ) And my father asked to see, and he said, if you`ll get the materials I`ll build you one.
So one Week end Dad built this cabinet under Mr Charles carport.
Some time after the passing of my father I was talking to Mr Charles and he said he was going sell the cabinet and then he told me the story. I asked to buy it, but he decided to give it to me.
Earlier this year I sanded off all the old brushed on varnish and added a small piece of crown around the top, and Sprayed three coats of poly, and put back all the original hardware. Construction is birch plywood ,all corners mitered on 45 degrees with glue and nails. After forty plus years it remains solid. Thanks for looking .
