This is my first scroll saw project I cut about 2 years ago for a client. I purchased the pattern form the Berry Basket (I think). To cut the pattern I used a #2/0 and a #3 blade. The portrait is cut into 1/8” bookmatched cherry I cut myself with my bandsaw. The frame, which is made of walnut and chery, came from a American Woodworker magazine. I cut walnut keys into the corners. The black backing is velvet felt form Rockler stuck to 1/4” plywood. The frame finish is sprayed lacquer. I sprayed the portrait with lacquer, but I should have only put an oil on it like boiled linseed oil. Even after a week of curing the lacquer stuck to the glass in some spots making them slightly shinier.

You definitely have an eye for that woodgrain!! This is a terrific piece, especially for your first. I’ll be watching for your next post.
