If you’ve ever lived in an old farm house, they didnt waste too many spaces. This space was a SMALL little closet tucked under the stair way. The door was only about 50” tall and 24” wide. So naturally, I couldnt fit in it to get anything. So for the past five years, we simply didnt use it… so wasted space to us. Our bedroom is small, 10×10, so I thought we might as well make this space useable…. I built a build-in dresser for myself. Four drawers and a small upper cabinet with doors. Made this project out of ashe wood, stained it with Golden Oak.

Mark, I would have thought that the space under the stairs would be much deeper than your shelves?

I built the dresser 18” deep because of limited space pulling out the drawers, so there is about 18” of unused space behind it… But if you pull the drawers all the way out, you can still reach in there. LOL Plus makes a great hideaway for valuables.

Ok! Just a little more work to hinge it and you have a “Hounds of the Baskervilles” House of Horrors secret bookcase hidden passageway.

Nice Job!

Beautiful dresser! Like the design, stain and the choice of metal ware. Great job and use of the space.
