This sofa table was for my sister. The legs are pine but the top, stretchers and drawers are oak. Trying to find a picture or two of the latest table. Made it out of black walnut. Will keep digging.
Found the pictures of the black walnut sofa table. Its a little bit larger, 24” x 42” simply because I wanted to show the size of the top itself. Its a solid 24” wide and I cut it at 42” long… this board was HUGE. I had no way of planing the board so after $40 dollars of sandpaper and hand scraping, we managed to make it smooth on the top! I only finished sanded the top side… the under side of the top is still rough sawn and shows the saw marks etc. Loved doing it this way. I just hope over the years it doesnt warp too bad. It had been in a barn for over 25 years when I found it!!! So it was well dried and stable. The legs were also made from the same piece of board. It was at least 1 3/4” thick by about 25” wide and over 12’ long! HEAVY. LOL
