Started this project a few months ago, it’s been one of those off and on projects. Finally got it finished last week. My long term plan was to put in the shop that sells my stuff and eventually the right buyer would come along and it would find a new home. My short term plan was to use the hutch part of it to show smaller items I have in the shop. As with most of my plans, that didn’t work. I put it in the shop on Thursday and it left for Oklahoma on Sunday. It’s made from pine, stained, and finished with catalyzed lacquer.
The base has punched tin inserts in the doors and center piece. The top (hutch) has hardware cloth inserts in the doors and glass inserts in the sides. The top (hutch) and pie safe base are separate units, and can be used as individual pieces. The separate pieces also make it much easier to transport. I thought it was strange that a couple from Oklahoma would want a pie safe that had the outline of Texas and Texas stars punched in the tin, but found out later they were displaced Texans that were living in Oklahoma.

Nice, very nice. I like the punched tin. Looks like it found a good home.

It’s always nice when someone else loves your stuff as much as you do. I enjoyed the story and nice hutch.
