I saw a box similar to this in an advertisement around Christmas time. I cut it out and taped it to the door of my shop. Saturday after work, I resawed the last of some Beech, and a scrap of Sapele. I jointed the Beech for the bottom and the Sapele for the sides, dividers. I also had to joint the Sapele for the lid. Its function is to provide a place to dump out your pockets. Change, keys, wallet etc. The ad wanted $42 for this simple little box.
My total cost…....scrap.

Nice looking piece.

Well done – and you saved $42 to boot.

Many people out there (beyond LumberJock Land) don’t have the ability to save themselves money by making their own special items. Doesn’t it feel great to be a creative LumberJock?!

I like that well enough to copy … if you don’t mind!

You may be creative, I’m not in this case!

Looks very good. I like the way you incorporated the handle in that center piece o wood also.

Very nice Jack! Something like this might be just the thing for me and my youngest to build together. We will also be using the ol’ Shopsmith!

You did a good job on this. It’s also very practical and will be used everyday.
