We got a new coffee maker for Christmas, and I wanted to make a K-cup holder for it. I was inspired by BrianGT’s design, and made one with just a little variation. It is made of oak, with birch ply for a “drawer”, (which just slides in a dado, just like Brian’s). I turned the knob out of black walnut. I used sanded caulking to hold the tile in place.

Awesome work! I’ve been messing around with a similar idea for my machine out of MDF. I want to use hardwood but I’ve been having a tough time with selecting a wood that will match (somewhat) my kitchen cabinets.. You’ve given me some excellent ideas.

It looks like you used MDF hardboard for the k-cups… Did you?

Anyway, well done!

MrBagel: the drawer for the K cups was made of 3/4” birch plywood, but I think MDF would be a better choice as long as it is sealed for moisture. That is what I’m planning for the future if anyone wants to buy them from me.

Nice job Tony. I am flattered and glad that my project gave you the idea. It feels like I am giving a little back from all of the inspiration and ideas that this site has given me.
Love the knob by the way.

Gonna have to put this on the list for the wife. Any chance this thing reproduces new k-cups every night? That would really help my coffee budget!

Smitdog: we bought these little filters that you fill with coffee. A lot better on the budget. BTW, they fit into the holes too.
