I made this as my final project, my third carving ever, in my wood carving class this last semester out of a chunk of basswood. It started as a 10 inch 3 inch 3 inch block that I drew on, and cut the outsides of the lines on the band saw. After, I screwed the form in to a piece of plywood so i could clamp it to a bench. then used a power carver to form a very very very rough form. The rest was form after 20 more hours of shaping with standardized carving gauges, v-gauges, and sweeps. The green and blue is done using very thin oil piant. I let dry for 4 days then used a burning tool to make the face and paws. Then went over the bear with shellac.
Gave this bear to my little brother – NFS
