This 4-foot bandsaw box is my entry for a 2×4 contest over at the Summers Woodworking. It’s made from a standard 8-foot 2×4 stud from Home Depot and wood glue. I used Minwax Red Oak stain and Deft clear gloss lacquer for a two-tone finish. I think it may be the World’s Longest Bandsaw Box! If you have seen a longer bandsaw box, or if you attempt to make one, please comment and let me know because I would love to see it.

Thanks guys! I like it, but I thought everyone else would think it’s ugly. Reminds me of argyle socks. lol

Glen – That would be awesome. Do it! I’d love to see a 5-foot one with one big drawer.

Looks like the Forth Bridge on the East Coast of Scotland
I think it is a great box I hope that you do well in the competition

Steve, I’m sorry but my bandsaw box is 48 and 3/16 wide. Yeah right! Steve, I love that box on so many levels. Ultra cool design and excellent craftsmanship. What really blows my mind is that you used framing lumber. I used to look at that wood with contempt. You have humbled me. Beautiful job.

Great idea Steve. I have made hundreds of BS boxes, but never thought of making one like you have designed this one. When I first saw it I was wondering how in the world you would cut out the drawers….great way of doing it. Question, do you make all your BS boxes the same way…I mean by cutting everything away and then glue it back together…or just this style and size of box?

Now that’s thinking outside the box. Nice project.

Excellent job.

I am not finding it, but a fellow LJ has a picture of himself with a very large bandsaw box he made. Although not as long, I think could be a rival for overall size.

That is great. Pretty creative, not much scrap leftover. Looks real good on your mantel too. The video was interesting to watch.
Maybe you should have kept it a secret until after the contest finals.
