just a little pine box

I made this box for my granddaughter Nicole.

I got the birds eye pine when I worked at Lowe’s. We couldn’t sell it as it had too many knots. Great deal for me!
The lid is oak. The lift out tray is oak with a plywood bottom and the keys are mahgany. I cut some felt for the tray and bottom and finished the box with danish oil and lacquer.
A fun little box to build and everything except the pine was scraps from other projects.

Nicole liked it and that’s what counts.

Very nice. What are the dimensions of your box?

Chris, don’t remember the exact dimininsons anymore. The box is in FL. I believe it’s about 6X6X6. Maybe 7X7X6. Somewhere in that range. I’ll get in touch with Nicole and try to find out for you.

Robert, I agree. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found out that board was going in a cull pack.

Thanks for looking and commenting guys.

Such a delightful wood for a small box going to a young girl. Nicely detailed too with bold contrasts and a great lid. Fine work, a real keeper.

Beautiful box! The knots on the pine added some character to it. Like the lid and splines. Well done and very lucky grand daughter.

A very nice box.
