Finally finished this weekend ! TV stand made with red oak. There was alot of experimenting with stain until I had the look I wanted. I used a general finishes water based cherry as a base then a “Java” gel stain over that to get the dark look with reddish undertones, the wife loves it and it has the look I was trying for. The base is semi gloss poly and the top is arm-r-seal gloss. It was an enjoyable build but as always on to the next project, a desk for my son.

I’ve made a lot of things with red oak for family and friends, all seem to like the “golden oak” look. I kinda prefer the darker look of the general finishes Java gel stain.
