Having had success with some other simple handles for some pen files I decided I should expand handle collection to other files. I did learn through some experimentation that for the larger files I could use a smaller handle. My second consideratuion on this was that for longer handles I would need a bigger toolbox. Space is a premium so this is not possible, thus I improvised and made due with what I have. Bearpaw has given me a lot of short pieces of Maple as of late so I decided to cut one down the middle and glue in a piece of Purpleheart for a unique look. Having seen some other interesting projects lately I took another piece of Maple and cut it with the bandsaw letting the blade wander along the centerline for a wavy look gluing a thin piece of Purpleheart in the middle. To finish I drilled holes in each file handle and used epoxy and let stand for a night before handling them.

Just think – I got to see them in person. They have a great feel to the hand. You are the master of using scrape wood. Most of all your are a good friend.

Love them. Turning wood scraps to beautifully shaped handles. Great wood combo and finish.
