Project Information

This piece is going to the gallery next week. I have 25 new works for my next exhibition on March 22 at ecce art gallery in Fargo. The top of this piece is honduras mahogany…....has beautiful figure. The base is kind of rare. Highly figured cottonwood of all things. Saw the board and had to have it. Love the lumberjocks!!!!!

Steve, I really appreciate the imagination and creativity of your pieces. On this particular one I'd like to know how you put the ripples in the top. I can't think of an easy way to do it without an oscillating spindle sander that's 2 feet high!

Good luck with the show.

Doc and Jon….....as far as balance, I found the center of gravity of the top first and marked it. It's wider at one end than the other, therefore can have more overhang on the left side. Jon…..I made a custom sanding block with 6o grit sandpaper, and believe it or not , 4 hours of elbow grease…..back and forth, back and forth. I'll admit, it was a bit rediculous, and I plan on finding an easier way to do it in the future.

Unusual design but looks really cool. Like the wood combo and the wavy top as well as the slim legs.
