These are just a few of the bowls I’ve made in my spare time. The first four pictures are two pieces of Ambrosia Maple I had lying around that my wife requested me to turn into bowls. The last two pictures are a bowl I made out of a cherry log I had acquired when I bought an old craftsman lathe from the 1960’s.

Like the beautiful shapes of the bowls. Amazing grains on the 1st and 2nd bowls and the finish really made them pop.

Thanks for the comments, y’all! These were all kind of experimental in that I made them all in different shapes because my wife’s aunt wants some salad bowls but wasn’t sure about the shape, wood, depth or any other details that she wanted. So I made those three bowls all different to see what she liked best.

I really like these bowls, great job! The maple ones are very eye-catching!

Hi Matt, I love working with Ambrosia Maple too. Did you stain these? If so, what did you use?
Thanks, Ray

No stain, Ray. Just some “salad bowl finish” from Woodcraft or Rockler. I can’t remember which store. Both probably carry the stuff!

Have your say...
