First I have seven daughters and have promised each one a cardle for their first born. This started by building my sister in law a cardle for her daugher when she was born and all the girls thought daddy should do that for them also. This is how it started. So far I have buiilt three and as I do each get a little better but thought I would share them with all of you. I do get ideas from other on building these and have taken ideas from others I have seen. One on the last I made so my daughter could use it as a cradle and then drop it down to be able to use it longer as a baby bed. Now starting one more as I expect to need it in the next year.
Thanks
Bill

Bill,
First of all I think that congratulations on being an expert at building these cradles is in order. Secondly congratulations are also in order for being able to deal with so many women in your family. :)
Great job on the cradles and it is wonderful to “have” to build another one for each of your daughters. This means that a new grandbaby is on the way. I have told my children that they could have a dozen apiece and it would be fine with me.
Nice post. And I appreciate the story behind it.

These are quite nice, and I like the variety. I can appreciate your position, because I’ve somehow been called upon to make a crib/cradle or two and I only have one daughter. I’m curious about the dimensions, they look to be standard crib size.

The cradles were made as the daughter told me I had a grandchild on the way but as work and illness messed this up once or twice I am now working ahead of time and can put them in storage until they are called for. As of the size they are 38” long and 18” wide and that fits mattresses you can find at most baby outlets. I don’t furnish them as it seem each daughter has their own thought on what they want.
I did get a call once from a daughter that wanted to know if someone could use Olivia’s cradle and I told her I made it for her and she could do what she wanted and I was told I had another one on the way so now Olivia and Erin have both used it
Thanks for the comments
