This is the second “bird” clock I made, with the base for this one being a basswood log slice roughly 10” X 18”. This made for a more rustic look than my first attempt (previously posted here) using a 14” diameter birch base. I whittled the birds from birch branches, then painted them with a bit of acrylic paint and coated them with a polyurethane finish. Placing the twelve perches in the right locations was a little tricky because of the oval shap, but I think I got them close enough. If you don’t recognize the particular bird species, do not despair – I don’t know what they all are either!

Thanks for looking!

I don’t have the patience for the whittling and if I have a knife that close to my fingers very long I would be bleeding.

Really charming.

You did great with that very interesting and adorable time piece. Like the design and the cute birdies.

Have your say...
