I have had this thermometer for a long time. I havent had it out because I was afraid the cats would knock it over. It is made of oak saved from a friends woodstove and some left over purpleheart. Renaissance wax used to finish it. Stone lanp finials for a contrast in materials.

Now that’s a cool idea. I have both one of these thermometers and a clowder of cats (five came with the wife, but I married her anyway …), and like you have kept the thermometer in a box because of the cats. I’m going to have to try to make something like this, although it may have to be more square unless I can figure out how to make the base and finial without a lathe.

Sounds like a good excuse to get yourself a lathe. LOL

Very cool, love those thermometers…especially when they’re surrounded by wood!

Wow looks fantastic! Like the design and shapes, the combination of colors and the finish. Great job!
