Completed June 1991. This pair of Shaker night stands fit perfectly with our pencil post bed. Drawer sides and frames are made of poplar and the rest is cherry. Notice the routed profile on the top inside edge of the drawer front. This small touch adds greatly to the looks of the drawer when open. I bought the knobs for this piece. I hadn’t starting turning my own drawer knobs at that stage of my woodworking.
I bought wood for the top from a friend. It was thick enough to resaw and yield two tops. However the wood apparently wasn’t dried properly. It was under a lot of stress and began to warp immediately. If I’m ever reaching in the drawer and the screws let loose from the top, it will probably knock me out when it springs up!!!
