The wood work is nicely done. I looked at your other projects and you do wonderful work.
Why it was built is a culture thing, but I personally do not agree with it.

Cultural differences aside, cockfighting is an illegal activity ln all 50 of our United States. You appear to have some talent but I think you could put it to better use.

I really dislike the thought of cock fights. The woodwork and craftsmanship is nice, but the subject matter sucks.

Medpall – Sorry for all the Negative Feedback from us here in the USA, Please don’t Judge us by our own Stupidity.
Cockfighting is a sport that has been Banned in the USA, but that dosen’t mean that people who do fight Chickens are Evil as has been assumed with the above statements.
For People who do not know, anytime you put 2 Chickens(along with most species) together who are Not Associated with each other they are going to fight.
For Animal Lovers( which I am One) do you bitch every time you go to the Zoo or an Aquarium? How about the Horse Races, the Romantic Horse & buggy ride? how About the Dog Park ? Rodeo ? ETC…
We as Humans have just assumed that all the animals are stupid & want our help to be Attached to a Leash or Bridle & be ridden or to be Locked up in a confined space with all the world coming to see.
As for Dog & Cock Fighting, Someone took offence to others making money off it. but it still happens every day, Just without the Wagers.. Ever seen 2 dogs trying to get the same bone…

Nicely done book motif for the box.
Cock fighting is obviously going to get you some comments. It doesn’t really float my boat. Haven’t really thought about it much. My only experience with chickens is chopping their heads off and cleaning them when the wife tells me it’s time to cull.

Obviously a lot of ignorance still in the world. As an animal welfare professional, I could write volumes about why it is wrong to fight animals for your benefit whether it be financial or otherwise. Maybe we should limit our discussion to woodworking here and leave the animal cruelty (which it is) to the appropriate forum. Woodwork is my escape from the cruelty I see everyday, I don’t need to see it on Lumberjocks for god’s sake. Say Medpall, I’d love if you’d get me your customer list here in the States!

@DaddyZ: The evilness of those who fight animals or otherwise encourage it is completely unrelated to its illegality in various places. Zoos are a mix as in some cases they are saving the animals and in most cases they are encouraging people to care for the welfare of animals around the world. Fighting animals merely trains people to disrespect life. Dog park? Sure, some people abuse and neglect their animals but over the centuries we have bread the animals to care for us. This is a far cry from taking animals and making them mad so they try to kill each other (regardless of how easy it may be).
Yes, we do many things that are questionable, others that are simply bad, and even more that really depend. Making the animals fight is clearly right near the bottom of the barrel. It provides no nutrition. It does not induce respect. It thrives on pain and suffering.
I’ll trust that you love your pets but maybe someday you will be less selfish and will actually respect life.

I don’t see how anyone who looks at an animal as a living being that actually feels pain, and has thoughts, could do this to an animal… would you be ok putting people in a cage with a lethal weapon to see who could kill the other first? Just for someone’s entertainment or for others to make money? When I think about dog fighting and cockfighting, it makes me sick to my stomach. I don’t see how it is not considered animal abuse, which apparently it is since it has been made illegal. I just think it takes a really mean person to abuse those which cannot help themselves and depend on us(animals/children). If you didn’t want the negative comments then it should not have been posted. Surely you are smart enough to know that most people think it is cruel and obsurd. I hope one day you will realize that animals CAN feel and how cruel you really are being.

Was hoping it was about this:
@daddyz For People who do not know, anytime you put 2 Chickens(along with most species) together who are Not Associated with each other they are going to fight.
That’s why wild roosters always carry switchblade spurs.

So you didn’t like my first post so you took it down, well here’s some more. I can’t sit here and say how much i disagree with the so called sport but i really like your work. Just knowing what you do for thrills just makes me not give a rip about whatever else you do. You, sir, are a coward.
DaddyZ: i could say the same thing about you. I don’t need you to apologise for me. This guy is a pig.

I do not like the cockfighting, this project its for a client. I live of this work and if to make the living I have to do boxes for blades i will do them, where i live I cannot give me the luxury of putting the life of one chiken in firts place that the proper one.I like the wood and the animals, but I cannot say to the people what it should make or allows doing with the wooden things that I construct, so if I do a handle of knife I cannot say to the client that it should use it only to cut lemons.I respect the way of thinking about all the persons and swear to them that no chiken died during the manufacture of this box.
