Glider for deck

A friend for whom I have built things before, requested a swing for his deck. After seeing his deck, he has no room for the motion of a swing, so this was the only option I could see. My wife and I built this for his approval upon his return this spring, (he and his wife go south for winter.) We got this pattern from Wood mag., May, 2004, issue 155. All wood is Northern White Cedar, cut from my fathers property, and milled on my sawmill. It seats two, and “rocks” nicely. My wife and I built this in a couple of weeks, including time for the finish to dry. The finish is Helmsman, spar urethane, sanded with 220 between all three coats. A fun project, now on to some outdoor chairs to, (hopefully) sell this summer. All comments welcome.

Extra special porch accessory! Looks close to the wood I used for my Grandapa Adirondack chair!

MasterSergeant, nothing like white cedar for outdoor projects in my opinion. The wood in our projects do look similar. Thank you sir, for your comment.
