Well my second custom bar build is done…. finally. The customer is extremely happy with the finished product and because of this installation, I now have two more requests for basement bars and one request for a kitchen island.

Bar is made from birch ply edged with solid birch. This was my first attempt at inset doors and they turned out pretty nice. The bar is finished with Miniwax American Chestnut which was done by the customer. The next two I’ll be finishing but for this installation, the customer wasn’t quite sure what color they wanted and so they agreed to have it installed and they would finish themselves. They did a great job too!

Questions or comments, let me know.

Thanks for looking
Ed

Nice looking. It’s one of the next pieces on my build list.

Excellent work. It seems you’ve found a good niche market. Well done.

Very nice! Great timing as my wife wants me to build a bar for our basement. Where did you get the plans or is this your design?

thanks everyone. no plans. just built based on pics I had seen online and the customers requirements and the general dimensions of the room in which it was getting installed. if you want some more info on how this was built, I tracked the build in a blog that can be found here http://lumberjocks.com/EWJSMITH/blog/series/5823
It basically 5 large pieces that go together like a puzzle and it’s cabinet construction. Not done with 2×4 framing as I have seen some bars done. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
Cheers
