This is a walnut bowl that was intended to be a tree of life series with white trees like my other bowls but when I inset the quilted maple piece on the lid it lent itself for a piece of quartz for a lid handle instead of white trees . It still was a study in texture with three color milk paint and skew chisel . I did use a V chisel to go cross grain . All in All it worked out as a decorative art but I think I missed the mark alittle bit. All this and heaven too.

Interesting directions you’re exploring ”...or what is heaven for…”

Just because it didn’t end with the same vision you started with doesn’t mean you missed the mark. Sometimes the wood let’s us know that it was meant to be something different.

Love the piece.

Very good looking, interesting how those things we pick up because they look good seem to find a use that
we did not expect. Thank you for sharing.

A friend used to say “Always shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will still end up among the stars”.
That piece of quartz gives it something special.

Another art piece, a great conversation piece. Like the design, wood and the quartz handle. Great job!

Have your say...
