I’m still working on making faces and I had to do some wood carving on this one. I really enjoy combining the two mediums and I hope it works well for the end result. It is 18”x12” and is almost and 1 1/2 thick with all of the spacers. It took 157 pieces to make out of 13 different kinds of wood.

It is made out of mahogany, yellow heart, aspen, wenge, lignum, cortez, curly maple, osage, walnut, ebony, teak, blood wood, cherry, and was finished in satin.

Thanks for looking!

People and faces are so difficult to capture properly in wood, but Kory – you nailed this one. Very beautiful features and as always, just exquisite design and application. I always like getting notices when you post a new project because I know I am in for a treat. This time was no exception! Just beautiful! :)

Whatever you are doing Kory …. keep at it.
Another knock-out piece and the subtle carving details are a real treat.

Good work.

A very creative and beautifully done piece Kory. You have taken your intarsia work to a whole new level with your last three projects.

Your new projects are always my most anticipated pieces to look for here at LJ. Thanks for your guidance and inspiration for me with your intarsia. You set a high goal and target for us other intarsia folks, but it pushes us to learn and grow within the artform. What’s up next for you?

Beautiful.
I think this is the best I’ve ever seen at capturing the eye from a sideways glance.
Absolutely stunning.
