I was at work thinking of new cutting board ideas and one that my wife would like. Probably not the safest thing to do in a steel mill. This board is made out of 5/4 maple and walnut. It was really not to hard to make but I only glued up a couple pieces at a time so it took a while. I may have to come up with a different method next time. I overlapped the ends of each board instead of mitering them. The picture does not show it the best or that fact I routered finger holds in the ends. The good news- the wife really likes it.

Looks good! I had to think about it for a minute to get the end joints right in my head, then it made sense.

I like it. I think that miters would have looked a little better, but that’s just me – I really like your design.

Beautiful. Pity to chop up a surface like that.

I would automatically start cutting miters, but this beauty will make me think twice next time.
Super job.
