Hi everyone, This is really 2 projects that were recently completed. One is the plant stands and the other are 2 very unremarkable boxes intended to store cd’s. The plants stands were as a result of me looking at the gray plastic stand pictured center and wondering if this could be better rendered in wood. The results are a bit a bit clumsy but I’d like to think they improved on the idea a bit. They were made with 3/4 inch maple plywood and some scrap mahogany for trim. They stand aprox 25 ” tall and 10’’ at the top and base which makes them stable. The boxes are made of 1/2 poplar wood and rounded over with a router bit. What makes them a tad interesting is the design on the boxes. This was done by using a laser printer to print the design onto simple paper that was then taped to the wood and gone over with a very hot iron for about 10 min or so.
I ran across the idea on a youtube video and darn if it doesn’t work. It must be a laser printer or from a laser copier..I’m told nothing else will work like this. I have only a faint idea how it works but the video says color
works well too but be mindful of numbers and letters as they will appear backwards if not mirrored.
So thanks for looking.
