Every year I donate a piece to a heart auction. This year, instead of a box or lamp, I created this bud vase. It is made of maple. It is 18×6 x 9 inches. The base is bubinga. This was carved with an angle grinder. Then refined with scrapers and finally sanded to 2000 grit and finished with tung oil. I have never done a piece like this and would appreciate any feedback on it.

Very nice Ellen. Looks like another one of those projects that has been around for a while but with few comments.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Very classy.
was it inspired by a font, or ornament set – perhaps subconsciously?
Love the lines and dimension.

I was thinking that too: how do you do that??? And then you answered it – grinder, scraper, sandpaper… now, doesn’t that SOUND simple!

Thanks so much for the feedback! I am trying my hand at limestone and wood. As soon as this one is complete, of course, I will ask for feedback.
