This is, or more accurately was, a bed for my beagle Royce. Apparently he thought it looked more like food. It was made from two 6’ 2×4s, a piece of 1/2” MDF, and a cheap pillow and pillow case, so no big loss. The piece of MDF was inside the pillowcase with the pillow and was sized to not fit through the opening in the top of the bed frame. There are a couple pieces of wood screwed to the bed frame to hold the MDF panel in place and also hold the ends of the pillowcase. In that way, the pillow was securely attached to the frame.

My Springer Spaniels are the same. For some reason, they prefer to sleep on the bare plastic trays in their crates rather than on a nice comfy bed. I tried to give them beds twice, and that was enough. My Lab was the same way as a puppy too, but he appreciated his bed when he got older.
