My son needed a headboard that was short enough that it didn’t cover the window his bed is under but wide enough to also use as a shelving system. I found the idea for this on the Ikea website and decided to save myself $200 and building one myself. So after a trip to the local lumber yard to pick up a $25 worth of Poplar and 2 weekends work I was able to make the assembled headboard.

Now that it’s complete my wife decided she no longer wanted it painted (was going to be blue), now she would like some type of stain/finish on it. Would have been nice to know that prior to picking Poplar for the project. Such is life…

I still need to get some material to make the shelves (haven’t decided on a wood type yet).

Anyway, enjoy. thanks.

I would convince the wife to paint it. Let the accessories you make let it pop! Some nice cherry, perhaps.
