I had an inspiration recently and after a few tries managed to come up with a means to glue up sticks of 5/8” pen blanks at an angle without slippage. As I forgot to take pictures during the process I will have to post how I managed this at a later date.
Top to bottom #1 Yellowheart with purpleheart #2 Spalted Maple with purpleheart stripe #3 Spalted maple with purpleheart yellowheart stripes #4 Walnut with purpleheart, zebrawood, and yellowheart stripes #5 Some fancy acrylic I found at the wood show one year

Enjoy and be inspired.

Probably the end of the week, just glued up another set and this time took pictures of the jig I use to do so. Tedious work but the end result is a unique pen. Bullet pens are out of control, everybody wants one … this year. Ah, well the market calls and one must have cash to pay for one’s woodworking habit.

After seeing the pencil holder you made for your friend I read that you made pens which led me to see these beautiful builds. Great build Gunny!

Interested to know how you did #’s 1 & 3. Did you just add a couple of diagonal slices in the blank before drilling??

Looks great.

Thanks. I use a piece of channel 3/4 wide from a bookcase upright. Cut the pieces on my liter jig then add glue and slide space blocks on each side and clamp overnight. Titebond works well, nothing fancy. Once they are dried I sand them flat and they are ready to be cored and inserts put in, then turn.
