This is another of my series ” Tree of life ”, developing a concept using texture to turned green Texas walnut. This bowl is turned from flat grain material and the lid is from the base of the quilted walnut tree where all the eye burls play . The texture is accentuated with black and white milk paint over the chiseled texture. I use the mitsumata branches for effect and lengthen the composition. All this and Heaven too.

Very nice! I so enjoy the interplay of texture and stark contrast in color.

I don’t know which of the two rough lids I like more, or even know of the vessels. They have a remarkable mix of natural and deliberate texture. Then the crispness of the turning and especially of the branches puts everything in balance.
Edgeworthia indeed.

Do not exactly know what it is about these, but the more you look at them, the better they look, and
they seem to put me in a better mood. Thank you for sharing.
