This is the first of six peels for a client that I discussed on the forum yesterday. When it traveled from Montana to Illinois the difference in humidity caused the board to bow a bit. Allowing to lay overnight let the peel acclimate to its new home and this morning was back where it should be. Now on to the other five peels.

It’s good to know that once it got used to it’s new home it returned to normal. Until you posted this, I had no idea what a pizza peel was.

Very nice. I want to make one of these for myself. Did you narrow the end that goes under the pizza?

Good to know that the piece acclimated. I have a piece of furniture that arrives in New Hampshire tomorrow (I am in Northern California) which is very dry and NH humid so I will be curious if my piece experiences the similar warping. Very nice pizza peel by the way. Are the others also going to be birch or are you using different species? If you are using different species it would be interesting to see how each handles the change in climate.

I’ve seen them used in pizza places, but didn’t know that’s what they were called. You were lucky that the board didn’t split at the narrow end.

I know what it is by looking at it but never heard it referred to by its correct name. But this is an interesting piece.
Nice post.

Great job ….We all love Pizza ..oh yes ..I have a store bought Pizza Peel hanging in my kitchen …So How did you decide on Birch ….Is it Birch Ply? Will all the rest be made of birch also ? and ….Not to be critical …but …..isn’t the handle a bit short? ...
I love it great job …
Thanks for posting …
