finally got a project made from that F.O.G. wood—-found on ground—-as one person put it—-actually found on beach—-No it is NOT heart cheese wood—-but that was a good idea—it is cheesy——and no it is not YOUR wood floating around the panama canel into the pacific—-but if it was it is sure a nice gift from your side of the country—-Madrone seems to be the best guesss—-got a lot of chunks outta that log—-center is still wet so it will take a few months to dry out——found a huge redwood too——inch worming it out into blocks—so far the men in black have not arrived and we have not glowed in the dark either——but we are having a blast—-retirement is so much fun

I have no idea what it’s name is, but it sure is beautiful timber with stunning grain pattern.

I would bet on it being walnut – I don’t know about “stinking”, but walnut does have a smell if you burn it with a blade.
