Nice looking work

Nice, pens are a great gift and good for scratching up cash for other woodworking habits, i.e. tools….. That being said try some exotic woods, experiment some. You make 10 or 15 of these and keep them handy you are NEVER caught without a gift for that someone you forgot about. Planning ahead for a disaster ya know? (Laughing)

Purpleheart is always a hit. I make 2 pens a night, set two more up for the next night and that is my limit per day. My normal run is during the winter when I cannot work on outside projects and want a break from other larger projectsso I tajke 2 months a year make about 50-60 pens and call it a year. No special orders, no custom jobs etc etc. Just having fun and making some pocket change for the habit of woodworking. If you can find people working in the Middle east they have access to pruple heart chunks used to seperate freight and such that comes via Africa. My friend got me 6 chunks last summer all about a foot square. It is hardwood and I will admit I have to sharpen my chisels more often, a small trade off. :) Enjoy and make MORE!
