Built-in desk and upper cabinet used as family office since it is directly between kitchen and family room. Pull-down blind can hide any mess in a moment if needed. Halogen lights illuminate the space. Made from plywood, 1×3 poplar and paint.

The desk is made from a piece of a bowling lane (lane 37 at Kona Lanes in Costa Mesa, CA, which was torn down in 2004). Finish of the top is still the original finish from the bowling alley. I got lucky because the space for the desk just happened to be exactly the width of the bowling lane.

The build really looks great and what a wonderful use of the space. Nice work. Man I wish I had some of that bowling alley wood. You did luck out.

Great reuse of wood, cabinets blend in great, I like the shade idea, may have to barrow for a project I am doing.

That is a great idea and use of the space. Love the reclaimed wood, it’s beautiful. The cabinets with the cork board inside are the perfect finishing touch.

Really like the look. Great desk made out from reclaimed wood and additional storage on top. Great use of the corner space. Great job!
