Hey, All,
I applied the last coat of tung oil to my workbench today. I took some snaps and attached them. They do not do the finish justice. The wood has a golden hue that you cant see in the pics. The pic, Bench w LV EndVise, comes closest to the actual color.
It is 24×75x44 (back problems require a high bench).
Base is laminated 3/4 Birch plywood Mortise and Tenon construction.
Shelves 3/4 Birch plywood.
Top is 1-1/2 laminated birch over 2 sheets glued 3/4 plywood.
Front vise is a Record 52 QR.
End vise is a Lee Valley Large front vise adapted with 24×6x1-1/2 Tamarack jaws.
Base finish is 2 coats Minwax polyurethane.
Top finish is 6 coats Gaudreault Antiques Tung Oil.

Thanks, Francisco. Yeah, it is very solid. I tried pushing on the corner. There was no racking; it will slide or lift on the corner before it will rack. I am very pleased with it.

Matt

Hey, Jeff.
Yeah, it is a great addition. It means I can now stop using my tablesaw outfeed table as a workbench.
Thanks.

Yeah, Rob. I think so too—seems almost a shame that I have to start sawing, planing, and hammering on it.
Thanks,
Matt
