This idea came from (MM) Steve Ramsey. My granddaughters, like checkers but at 8 and 10 picked up on Quarto faster than Grandpa did, they will be ready for chess soon, so I decided to make 3 games in one package.

The game board is thin maple ply with formica under it and the checker board is walnut and maple with some kind of dard red wood border, not sure what it is just some scraps I had around. All three pieces are glued together with a pull on one end. Most of the wood is reused from kitchen remodels. The Quarto pieces are maple and some kind of hardwood(anyone have a guess on the wood?)

The plugs on the Quarto pieces are glue-ups made of white corian the redish wood again and scraps from the dark Quarto pieces.

The hardwood is scraps that came from a Bow maker, I pulled them out of the trash bin. The checkers were made from the redish wood (from the trash bin) and maple and turned on the lathe with a tenon so they will stay stacked. I did not make the wood chess pieces, too many projects too little time.

Thanks for looking

John, I really like this. Good job. I have been wanting to build a quarto game ever since I saw the WWMM video. This is the next level!
