As usual, working from hand-me-down wood, not sure what kind of tree it was.
And that goes not for only the interesting panel, but also for Spalted1’s lid frame & sides
though that was marked “danta” and resembled ash but greyer.

The zigzag didnt go all the way thru the block, so in order to add some interest to
Spalted2, its sides are made from Ash with some “character’ (spalting ? whatever)

Each has a little bit of wenge around the lid panel.
Both are about 25×10 x 5.5 cm. Being small, just lift lids.
