The coffee table I did a couple of months ago to match the tank stand, simple biscuit & glue joints. The fishtank stand I built a couple of years ago to accompany my 55 gallon saltwater tank. High density oak veneer plywood over Rock oak inner frame. black walnut trim, countersunk hardware plugged with black walnut plugs i cut myself from scrap. Finish on the coffee table is tung oil and 1 coat of polyurethane. 2 more coats of poly to come when the weather warms up and I can open up some windows. The tank stand is tung oil and 3 coats of butchers wax.

Very nice table and like the sturdy and well built fish tank stand with additional storage.

Thanks all. The stand has to be quite sturdy as a 55 gallon tank with water alone is over 450 lbs, add sand, rock, etc… I would guess the weight at close to 600 lbs. The cabinet holds filtration equipment, water testing supplies, fish food, and provides a place to hide all the wiring necessary to run everything. The base of the stand sits flat on the floor, no legs to create pressure points.

Have your say...
